MIANDIS led a critical strategy session for two Medical Affairs teams as they became one functional area post acquisition.

A merger created an opportunity to assess the Medical Affairs functions across teams to prepare for two new product launches.

A commercial-stage pharmaceutical company that recently acquired another commercial-stage company was preparing for two new product launches in the next 12 months. The Medical Affairs teams were interested in a strategy refresh and assessment of opportunities and challenges. MIANDIS was asked to design and lead a two-day strategy session where Medical Affairs leaders from both companies would come together to address the organization’s path forward.

Working closely with the Medical Affairs leaders, MIANDIS identified the critical elements needed for a two-day strategy session.

Detailed pre-meeting interviews were conducted during which a clear set of ‘pain-points’ and opportunities were identified. With a clear understanding of the goals of the leadership and team members, MIANDIS was able to structure a meeting that created an atmosphere of ownership and collaboration for everyone.

Information sharing and collaboration led to new Medical Affairs launch readiness planning and a strategic approach for team collaboration and continuity.

MIANDIS led a two-day live and virtual strategy meeting that fostered information sharing across the leaders, the head of Medical Affairs and the Chief Medical Officer. Post-meeting, the critical Medical Affairs deliverables for both products and functional areas, including a strawman for Medical Affairs launch readiness was identified. The assessment focused on ensuring clarity of medical deliverables and impact across the enterprise.

Critical milestones and deliverables to ensure a smooth transition for the acquired company’s products and people were also outlined and shared with senior leadership. All assessments and recommendations were delivered in an executive summary document that the Medical Affair’s team could use to inform their deliverables for the remainder of the year and into the corporate strategy meeting.
